My thoughts on the special. Sorry it’s late. (spoilers, obv)

I didn’t think Kyle was out of character in this special. I always believed that there was a part of him that cares for Cartman and thinks that there is good in him.

Someone made a post on tumblr about how they think Kyle is the last person to give up on Cartman in the future (referring to the ending of Post Covid). I agree. If that was you, I apologise. Please feel free to link me to your post, and I can add it here.

I enjoyed seeing Kyle go nuclear on helping Cartman, only for Cartman to bully him after. Kyle wants so badly to believe that *this* time, Cartman is being genuine. I really hope we see more of this, and that we see it develop. I also hope we see more of Kyle being a badass.

Obligatory Happy Belated Birthday Matt! 🎂

Like it’s actually funny to me when some rando insists that Matt Stone isn’t important to South Park because he isn’t the main writer. No wrong. He is fucking vital to the entire machine. If he’s not working in South Park the South Park Studio will implode on itself.

Let me paint you a picture, you see this thing? This is the demon core ?

You see the little block holding up the two halves? If you remove that thing and let the core snap together, it will cause severe damage to everything within radius of this ball.

Matt Stone is that block. Do not remove that block

Yep - among other issues, the almost total lack Kyle in has been a huge source of frustration for me when watching the show lately. The show just isn’t the same without him, and I would feel this way even if I wasn’t a Matt girl.

They really need to look in the mirror and remember what made the show work in the first place. The core boys, and especially Stan and Kyle, were always the heart and soul of the show, and I don’t know why they (or Trey?) have lost sight of this. Not only is Kyle rarely in the show, but he and Stan barely appear to be friends anymore. There is no reason that Clyde should be a more prominent character than Kyle at this point.

And now that they have been facing actual critical backlash for pretty much the first time ever, it’s time for Trey to acknowledge that most of us only enjoy Randy in small doses and that he doesn’t need to be the focus of every episode and special.

They need to get back to made people fall in love with the show in the first place.

I feel like I wrote this article in my sleep. I’m so glad it’s not just me and other people have noticed.

I don’t even necessarily want Kyle-centric episodes, I would prefer episodes that focus on all the boys interacting with each other to just one or two episodes with Kyle in and then he disappears off the face of the earth for the rest of the season.

A page for questions, discussions, or just to say Hi - unless you are Scott Malkinson, in which case nobody cares what you think.
